The Dental Hygienist carries out the clinical preventive care of patients. Aside from prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing, hygienists will educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health. Hygienists will review health history, take blood pressure, perform oral, head and neck cancer screenings, take intra-oral camera photos or other diagnostic information. Other functions include providing pain management with local anesthetics, taking radiographs, applying preventive materials such as fluoride and sealants, listening to patients’ needs, and adhering to all OSHA and safety policies and procedures, supporting our doctors, assistants and front office team as needed. The ideal Dental Hygienist candidate should possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology, a friendly, outgoing demeanor and excellent organizational skills.

As a Dental Hygienist at Mowry Dental, you must have a positive and outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, excellent patient care skills and strong organizational skills.
Additional requirements for the Dental Hygienist include:

  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate documentation
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs
  • Previous work experience in a dental practice is a plus
  • Be a team player
  • Efficient with time and capable of working in a fast paced environment
